The letters received by several pharmacists coincide with the recent expansion of the skills of the preparers authorized to administer the vaccines mentioned in the vaccination schedule. “We passed the information on to the Federation of Pharmaceutical Unions of France (FSPF) in order to know if this system is mandatory, or if we have the right to contest it”explains Claude Winstein, co-president of the Bas-Rhin pharmacists' union chamber. For Philippe Besset, the president of the union, “the fact of vaccinating is not enough for the pharmacy team to be placed in reinforced monitoring. » The regulations indeed state the need to deal with “particular risks for the health or safety of employees”, including exposure to asbestos, lead, carcinogens or even ionizing radiation, etc. “We do not understand why vaccinating a patient falls into this risk category. We had the same problem during the deployment of vaccination against Covid-19. It is very likely that certain occupational physicians have a very specific reading of the regulations in this area”continues Claude Winstein. At the national level, the union shares this point of view and suggests that pharmacists write to the occupational physician to contest this decision. If the occupational physician confirms his position, it will however be necessary to undergo enhanced individual monitoring. The latter includes in particular a medical fitness examination which ensures that the worker's state of health is compatible with the position to which he or she is assigned. It must be renewed periodically.
