Based in Montecito, 150 km north of Los Angeles, the Duchess and the Duke of Sussex are mobilizing in support of people affected by the unprecedented fires ravaging California.

Fires continue to rage in Los Angeles. Faced with fires ravaging entire neighborhoods, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to open the doors of their villa to friends forced to evacuate. In addition to helping their loved ones, Meghan and Harry are working to find the best solutions to help those affected by the fires. In a message published on their website, they call for donations to be sent to the Los Angeles firefighters who are “risking their lives” to put out these unprecedented forest fires. They also take the opportunity to list a whole series of associations to whom they can turn to ask for help or offer a helping hand to those affected. “Some families and people were left with nothing. We invite you to donate clothing, toys and children’s clothing, as well as other essentials. The American Red Cross is on the ground helping those in need,” the couple wrote. According to Peoplethe Sussexes themselves “donated essential supplies, as well as clothing and children’s items.”

“If a friend, relative or pet needs to be evacuated and you can offer them shelter in your home, do not hesitate to do so,” underline Meghan and Harry. Also, don’t forget to check with your disabled or elderly neighbors if they need help evacuating.”
