“It’s very hard to see the roots that we worked so hard to build disappear.” Like other celebrities, Patrick Bruel announced on Instagram on Friday that his house was destroyed by flames in California. In a post showing a photo of the extent of the fires on site, he talks about his pain. “The only assurance to which we cannot subscribe is that of the emotion, of the memories, of the objects, of the perfumes and of the silences which surrounded this house which is going up in smoke,” he regrets.
“She was so important to us for 8 years: Oscar was 13, Léon [ses fils]11, when we arrived…”, he remembers. “It was a nice anchor, another refuge.” Along the way, the artist says he is “obviously thinking of the victims” but also of his “friends”, his “neighbors”, and “all those who lost everything in this disaster as in so many others in recent years” . “God bless our firefighters everywhere and always,” he finishes.
The fire continues to ravage the outskirts of Los Angeles. The main fires remained out of control Thursday evening in the Californian megacity. Around 180,000 people remain under evacuation orders. The razed or damaged buildings number in the thousands and the death toll stands at at least ten, the authorities announced Thursday evening.
“A lot of our children’s photo albums were there”
Thursday, the writer Amanda Sthers, ex-wife of the singer and mother of his two boys, spoke to Le Parisien about the uncertainty surrounding the fate of the old family home. “Our children are safe but Patrick’s house is in the heart of Pacific Palisades [un quartier résidentiel de Los Angeles]. We have no formal news because the entire area has been evacuated. But, seeing the images of what now looks like a war zone, we imagine that the house burned down…” she said.
A residence in which a mountain of memories had been built. “A lot of our children’s photo albums were there. When they were little, we took paper photos. Their cuddly toys too…” confided the writer, very moved.
Many celebrity homes, located in the popular areas of Malibu and Pacific Palisades, went up in smoke. Among them, those of Paris Hilton, but also of the star of Dirty Dancing, Jennifer Gray or even the heroine of the series Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester.
