Tkings daughters in their father’s footsteps. Jean-Marie Le Pen, co-founder of the National Front (now National Rally), died at the age of 96 on Tuesday January 7. If the man distinguished himself as a figure of the French extreme right, he was also the father of three daughters, who followed his path into politics. Marie-Caroline, Yann and Marine are the fruit of his union with his first wife, Pierrette.
Marine, born in 1968, is the youngest of Jean-Marie’s three daughters, and the best known. In 1986, she entered politics within the FN, the main far-right party led by her father. After holding several local mandates, she took over as president of the party in 2011, before leaving the head of the movement ten years later. This is when she launches her campaign for the 2022 presidential election.
