The former Hollywood couple who loved each other for twelve years, darlings of celebrity magazines, parents of a large brood, some of them adopted, revealed that behind the mirror, all was not rosy. Alcoholism, alleged abuse, violence against children and against Angelina Jolie: everything was displayed in public. And the dirty tricks in court were featured prominently in the newspapers.
Conflict around children
From conflict to conflict, the procedure dragged on. Battle for custody of the children and visiting rights (partially resolved in 2018, and in March 2024), then, once they are adults, request from one of them to no longer wear the name of their father… Things quickly turned sour, Brad Pitt appearing like a terrible scarecrow.
A 2019 court decision ruled on the separation of the couple which authorized them to live their lives as singles each on their own. What the actor did not hesitate to do. For her part, Angelina Jolie “left their joint properties with her children, and since then she has focused on returning to peace and healing the family,” her lawyer told Variety.
This official divorce settlement does not mean, however, that, as a producer wishes, the two actors return together on screen!
Miraval, the stone in the shoe
Because, in addition to these legal battles which are all quite banal, if not for the notoriety of the people involved, another conflict between the two exes is also causing a lot of ink to flow. This is the property of the Château Miraval wine estate, a property in the Var acquired by the couple in 2008, where they married in 2014. They had joined forces with a local winemaking family to produce a wine rosé, a very popular activity in Hollywood.

The matter is not resolved… and the signed divorce agreement does not resolve this issue where financial interests take precedence, but from which acrimony is not excluded.
Notwithstanding the quarrels, Brad Pitt has resumed the habit of going to the small Var village which houses his luxurious home, visiting his friend and neighbor George Clooney.
