Just before the Christmas holidays, Maëva Coucke underwent emergency hand surgery for a whitlow. The former Miss gives her news.

Maëva Coucke did not expect to spend the end of year holidays with a bandaged finger, and yet, this is unfortunately the case. The former Miss France 2018 underwent emergency surgery for a whitlow, a painful infection that had settled on one of the fingers of her left hand. Last Sunday, she alerted her subscribers on Instagram by publishing a story: “I don't know if we can say that I'm going to start the week well, but I'm going to start it in the OR no matter what. [arrive].” The operation took place the next day, Monday December 23 at the Sud clinic.

Maëva Coucke hospitalized: she gives her news when she leaves the operating room

Yesterday, a few hours after leaving the operating room, Maëva Coucke reassured her subscribers: “That's it, my whitlow has been operated on. Very, very big bandage. I won't be able to do anything with this hand for a while I think. In short, it's a good thing to do, because it's already been two weeks since I could use this finger, so it was very, very annoying..” The Miss tried to take things lightly, even ironically about this setback as the holidays approached: “It's the Christmas gift that life gave me, 1 day before Christmas Eve.” A little later in the day, however, she admitted to having difficulty carrying out daily tasks without her left hand: “In truth it's super complicated to do everything with one hand (…) plus the pain that awoke.”

Maëva Coucke surprised by seeing her injury after her hospitalization

Fortunately, everything seems to be back to normal for Maëva Coucke. This Tuesday, December 24, the nurse came by to check the condition of her finger, and the Miss discovered a detail that surprised her to say the least: “Okay friends, update my finger. The nurse came by this morning, so that's it, I got my hand back, hallelujah.” But when she removed the bandage, she was surprised: “I was shocked (…) because I thought I had an incision. Except I'm actually missing a piece of my finger completely. I'm missing a piece of nail with.” Despite this discovery, she remains calm and sees the bright side of things: “Honestly, I can't say that I'm in pain, so that's good.”
