In an interview with TV Starthe 51-year-old actor and director talks about his two children, Marcel and Louise, from his relationship with Marion Cotillard.
His worst nightmare… Guillaume Canet spoke as rarely during an interview with TV Staron the occasion of the theatrical release of the film The Flood. This feature film, which delves into the tumultuous life of Louis XVI, offers Canet the opportunity to play the fallen sovereign. But it was by evoking a much more intimate subject that the 51-year-old actor and director became moved, revealing his greatest fear: losing those close to him.
“In what Louis XVI is experiencing, what would be the most intolerable for you: being dispossessed of everything? Being separated from the one you love? Of your children?”, ask our colleagues from TV Staras reported Gala . To which Guillaume Canet responds straight away: “My children! Besides, I imagined that I was being separated from them. For me, this is the most terrible thing I could ever experience. But like the woman I love too!”
As a reminder, Guillaume Canet is the father of Marcel (13 years old) and Louise (7 years old), born from his relationship with the actress Marion Cotillard. Despite their parents' notoriety, the two children were raised away from prying eyes and far from the spotlight.
“My greatest treasures”
Guillaume Canet never stops praising his children. In an interview given to RTL in March, the actor spoke of the crucial role that his children play in his daily life: “Louise and Marcel are my pillars, my sources of inspiration and my greatest treasures,” he confided with tenderness. “They remind me of the importance of savoring each moment, slowing down and enjoying the little things in life.”
Guillaume Canet, known for his diverse filmography, also revealed with emotion that his children are simply “[sa] “raison d'être”, insisting that his greatest achievement lies in his family. “My children are my top priority, they are the driving force that pushes me to pursue my dreams and give the best of myself,” he said. “Their presence in my life colors my films with a unique emotional depth. They taught me to see the world through new eyes, to embrace the magic of childhood and to capture the essence of life on film.”
