Moroccan actor Mohamed El Khalfi died on Saturday at the age of 87.

According to the Moroccan Union for Dramatic Arts Professionals, the late man took his last breath at his home in Casablanca, after a long fight against illness.

Born in Casablanca in 1937, Mohammed El Khalfi leaves a considerable artistic legacy in the fields of theater, television and cinema, giving him a special place among the Moroccan public.

The deceased began his artistic career in 1957 in amateur theater, alongside emblematic figures such as Tayeb Saddiki and Ahmed Tayeb Laâlej, before founding in 1959 the troupe “Le Théâtre Populaire”, then “Les Artistes Unis”, where prestigious artists shone, such as the late Thouraya Jabrane.

Mohamed El Khalfi was also one of the first to leave his mark on the audiovisual landscape in the early 1960s, with his first television series entitled “Le Sacrifice”.

In the cinema, he participated in works such as “Silence, forbidden direction” by director Abdallah Mesbahi, “Here and there” by director Mohammed Ismail, and “Les Beaux Jours de Sheherazade” by Mustapha Derkaoui, among others.

Mohammed El Khalfi has, moreover, acquired great notoriety among the Moroccan public thanks to his role in the famous sitcom “Lalla Fatima”.
