The 2nd edition of the Young Moroccan Architecture Awards celebrates the talents of the young architectural scene

Organized by the Archimedia group, under the aegis of the Ministry of National Territorial Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy, the second edition of the Young Moroccan Architecture Awards ended on December 12, 2024, with a trophy ceremony for young talents in Moroccan architecture, 51 projects of which had been nominated.

That day, at the Mariott Hotel in Casablanca, 19 prizes and trophies were awarded to the winning architects, following the votes of the jury, chaired by the architect Mohamed Fikri Benabdellah, thus highlighting innovation and excellence of the new generation of Moroccan architects on a national and international scale.

The 2024 YMAA recognized 16 achievements and awarded 3 distinctions covering various categories, as well as three special distinctions:

1. Zévaco Special Prize: Villa Ribat Bioclimatique in Rabat – Anas Koubaiti

2. Health and well-being: La Clinique Les Tulipes in Casablanca – Mohamed Yahya El Alj, Noesis Architectura Studio

3. Teaching: The French international high school in Benguerir – Zineb Ajebbar

4. Individual residential real estate: Resort “l’Hermitage” El Menzeh in Rabat – Sakina Belkasmi & Ahmed Amine Khiyati, All In Concept

11. Collective housing: Zig Zag building in Casablanca – YLA STUDIO

12. First work: Villa E/N in Marrakech – THE AKA’S – Architecture Kosmopolitan Agency

13. Architect designer of the year: M’hammad Muffak

14. Out of category: Luxalight stand at SIB 2022, El Jadida – Samia Moukhalid

15. Best male PFE: “Return the coastline” – Othmane Boudlal

16. Best female PFE: “Towards a new eco-district model adapted to the Moroccan context” – Rim Moussaoui

Distinctions:

1. Building of the year: Villa Ribat Bioclimatique – Anas Koubaiti

About the YMAAs:

Founded by the late Fouad Akalay, the Young Moroccan Architecture Awards aim to promote constant improvement in architectural practice by encouraging constructive and enriching exchanges between professionals. By highlighting current achievements and offering a platform dedicated to the presentation of projects, this event allows for a better understanding of the challenges and solutions specific to each context. It also helps to refine perspectives, stimulate dialogue and develop a critical perspective essential to the evolution of architecture.
