Good news on the California fire front. The firefighters managed to bring the fire under control, the Franklin Fire and the residents, whether they were stars or simply (rich) retirees on vacation, were able to return home after a few days and nights of anguish. At the height of the fire, around 20,000 people were evacuated, while more than 16,000 square meters were ravaged by the flames.

For Dusty Martin, incident commander of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, quoted by the “Los Angeles Times”, the measures taken and the action of the firefighters were able to allow a return to normal, while many feared that the luxury villas would go up in smoke…

More than 1,500 firefighters battled the disaster, supported by a fleet of water bomber planes. After two rainy winters which offered a relative respite, California is experiencing a very active fire season this year. In July and August, the state suffered the fourth largest fire in its history. Scientists consider that heatwaves and droughts of increasing intensity favor forest fires and are consequences of climate change.
