It's an evening that film actors couldn't miss. This Thursday, December 12, 2024, an appointment was made at the Coupole in Paris to award the André Bazin Cahiers du Cinéma prize to the chosen winner: Joanna Arnow for her film Life according to Ann, summarizing the daily life of “a young New Yorker who has chosen submission as a lifestyle. Her relationships with men, at work, with her family then become a delicious playground..”
The jury which deliberated did not fail to salute the talent of this year's big winner: “This woman who traces her path through a dull Western world in which she obstinately persists in putting a little flesh, is embodied by the author herself, reckless and frontal. She seeks and invents a way of looking and looking at herself with a distance like a rescued Buster Keaton. She sculpts feminist autofiction as a material in which to search for modern life. This first feature film is all the more perilous and precious at a time when American independent cinema finds itself on the verge of asphyxiation, and sometimes of uniform formatting, despite the many talents who keep its flame alive.”
Julie Gayet resplendent against Niels Schneider who is difficult to recognize
This year, the members of the jury were none other than Anna Mouglalis, Patricia Mazuy, Yal Saddah, Jean-Baptiste Doulcet, Judith de Luze and Léonie Pernet. However, other figures from cinema and comedy had made the trip, including Julie Gayet, the wife of François Hollande. The latter was resplendent in jeans and a blazer, not far from Virginie Ledoyen, who had opted for a leather skirt and a white blouse or, Amira Casar, sumptuous in a black outfit which she had embellished with a wool piece.
Niels Schneider was also there. Virginie Efira's companion, father of her little Hiro, is almost unrecognizable. The 37-year-old actor seems to have abandoned the curls we usually know for a slightly smoother hairstyle. It remains to be seen whether this new appearance is linked to filming or whether it is a simple change in trend.
