TELEVISION – Malik Benta-more there. The comedian, who largely made himself known thanks to Jamel Comedy Club broadcast unencrypted on Canal+, announces that it is definitively ending its collaborations with the group belonging to the Bolloré family.
C8 deprived of antenna, Canal+ makes a radical decision which will impact all those who watch TNT
“I will no longer do anything with Canal+”he says in the portrait devoted to him by the magazine QG. The actor no longer wants to work with the group's channels so as not to “endorse the vision of society that its leaders have today”clearly targeting Vincent Bolloré and his entourage.
In making this decision, the comedian is not afraid to “put one’s back” the influential French media group. “When I see everything that is happening on CNews and in certain Canal group shows, I can no longer act funny as if nothing had happened”he specifies.
Between 2012 and 2014, Malik Bentalha participated in the Jamel Comedy Clublaunched by Jamel Debbouze on Canal+. He then appeared in the films Pattaya (2016) et Taxi 5 (2018) by Franck Gastambide, both partly produced by the Canal group.
A parody of “L’Heure des Pros” which hit the mark
On October 23, 2023, the comedian revealed a pastiche of one of CNews' flagship shows, Pro Hour. In this video, which you can discover belowhost Patrick Traud, played by Matthias Van Khache, presented Too much time on “TNews”.
On his set, Malik Bentalha played imam Larsen Harbouni, (parody of Hassen Chalghoumi). Alongside him, Anne-Elisabeth Blateau played Viviane Bouchard (representing columnist Élisabeth Lévy) and content creator Anthony Lastella found himself in the role of Jimmy Di Canio, an archetypal character who is part of small far-right groups.
These three columnists stood together against an academician from the Arab world called Abdelkader (Samy Amara), in a sketch which currently has more than 34 million views on X (formerly Twitter) and eight million on YouTube.
Pascal Praud did not really appreciate the parody that he considered “too caricatured”regretting “the over-instrumentalization of this sketch on social networks” in an interview for The Parisian. “I'm made to look like a reactionary when I'm more of an anarchist. I love freedom above all”, he then argued.
It doesn't matter for Malik Bentalha who no longer wants to “stay hidden” as he confesses in his interview for GQ. “Given the evolution of CNews, I could have gone even further in parody,” he adds to conclude.
