Jamie Dornan has denied allegations of a feud with his former co-star Dakota Johnson, saying they are still in contact, more than six years after the release of the final film in the ‘Fifty Shades’ franchise.
During a red carpet interview with Metro at the Into Film Awards on Monday, July 1, Jamie Dornan confirmed that he is still in contact with his “Fifty Shades” co-star Dakota Johnson.
“I texted her a few days ago. I think she’s going to be in London for a few days, so I’m trying to meet her and her fiancé Chris for dinner. Of course I’m still in touch with her,” he said, referring to the actress’s boyfriend Chris Martin, who headlined the Glastonbury Festival in the UK with his band Coldplay over the weekend.
Despite the rumors, Dakota Johnson told Vanity Fair in 2022 that there were never any moments of tension between her and the actor while filming the three installments of the hit franchise from 2015 to 2018.

“I know it’s weird, but he’s like a brother to me. I love him so, so, so much. And we were really there for each other. We really had to trust each other and protect each other,” she told the magazine.
“We’ve been doing some really weird things for years, and we needed to get a team together: ‘We’re not going to do that,’ or ‘You can’t do that camera angle. Sam [Taylor-Johnson] didn’t return to directing after the first film, and, as a woman, she brought a softer perspective,” the “Madame Web” star added.
Jamie Dornan also denied the feud when the first film was released in 2015, explaining that “people are going to say that because it’s a story and people like to create a little bit of hype before the movie,” to E! News at the time.
While rumors of a romance between Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin began in November 2023, with several public appearances together, the couple has reportedly been engaged privately for years, according to multiple media outlets.
