The police are on their tail, but the Harry Winston robbers remain an enigma. Since the spectacular heist on May 18, the commando has vanished, as has their precious loot: eight million euros worth of jewelry that was, until now, untraceable.

Last week, the anti-banditry squad finally got a tip. A thug was trying to sell some very beautiful jewelry. The judicial police then developed a well-crafted scenario: two officers were going to discreetly pose as potential buyers.

The aim, according to journalist Brendan Kemmet, is to infiltrate the network of thugs without being unmasked. It is a very discreet service of the Ministry of the Interior, which employs agents whose identity is strictly confidential, and which requires acting talents, to play the roles of traffickers for example or thugs of all kinds.explains this expert on organized crime in the TF1 news report at the top of this article. It remains an extremely dangerous mission, since if they are unmasked, they risk their lives.“.

The meeting is set in a posh building in the 16th arrondissement of the capital. Around the table, the two fake buyers-real police officers face the three criminals. The latter offer them 17 pieces from the robbery, at a knockdown price: 1.5 million euros while the jewels are normally worth three times more. The criminals are completely fooled and arrested. They leave without a cent, but with handcuffs on their wrists.

The robbery commando, who are still actively being sought, are undoubtedly very annoyed to know that their precious loot is now in the hands of these police officers with real acting talents.
