ON VIDEO – You can’t change your nature. While he was taking part in a video intended to be published on his daughter’s TikTok account, Martin Scorsese couldn’t help but direct it.

You can be one of the greatest film directors of your time and direct your daughter’s amateur videos. The proof is in Martin Scorsese. A seasoned user of the social network TikTok, Francesca Scorsese regularly posts short videos in which she sometimes invites her famous father. But in one of them, while the duo wanted to bounce back on the “Of course…” trend, the director of Killers of the Flower Moon let his expertise and professionalism take over, stepping outside the role assigned to him.

“Do that again, I need more”

“We are film buffs; of course we have film posters everywhere in our house,” begins the 24-year-old, in a hallway whose walls are covered with posters of films such as The Paradine Trial or The Shanghaï Gestureamong others. “Do it again!” a male voice orders, off-screen. “Do that again, I need more. You’re proud of those posters!” the voice repeats. The budding filmmaker pauses, adjusts and corrects herself. “That’s over the top, take some off. Do it in between,” the voice insists. A directive that ends up annoying the budding filmmaker. “Dad, it’s just a TikTok,” she points out.

Moments later, Martin Scorsese appears on screen, displaying several treasured memorabilia, including vintage movie cameras, one of his director’s chairs, and an empty case that usually contains The Red Shoesfrom the film of the same name. “Right now, the red slippers have been loaned for an exhibition, I’m sorry,” the octogenarian says ironically.
