“Nala was perfectly healthy when she went to the groomers, but when she came out she was hyperventilating and couldn’t catch her breath. We took her to the vet and she died a few hours later,” adds the 29-year-old American, in the caption of a series of photos where we see her with her little ball of fur.
According to TMZ, veterinary records indicated that the dog had fluid in her lungs, neurological issues and a rapid heartbeat before she died, which is common for this breed of dog at an advanced age. However, the exact cause of Nala’s death remains unknown. Furious, Nicola is now planning to sue the New York grooming business. However, her lawsuit is not motivated by money but rather by a desire to prevent a similar tragedy from happening again.
Since there was no surveillance camera in the grooming room, the unfortunate woman wonders what really happened that day. “Be careful who you send your dogs to because you don’t know what happens behind closed doors. A day without Nala feels like an eternity. I wish I could hold her again,” Nicola added in her message.
In a recent Instagram story, the actress clarified that she was doing everything she could to find out the truth despite the obstacles in her path. “If his death was not due to foul play, then why is the groomer not cooperating with our investigation?” she said indignantly.
