Absent from the cinema since “The Eternals” in 2021, Angelina Jolie should first make her comeback in “Maria” by Pablo Larrain, scheduled for February 12, 2025.
CINEMA – Cocorico. After Jodie Foster filming with Virginie Efira for Privacy by Rebecca Zlotowski, it is another French director in the person of Alice Winocour (See Paris again) who treats himself to an American actress. The feature film, shot in both French and English, will take place in Paris during Fashion Week. It will follow American director Maxine, played by Angelina Jolie, in a “journey between life and death as she arrives in Paris for Fashion Week”, as specified in the synopsis of the film reported by Variety. Filming is underway.
The American star is accompanied by Louis Garrel and Ella Rumpf, winner of the César for best female revelation in 2024 for Marguerite's Theorem. The latter finds Garance Marillier, her playmate in Grave de Julia Ducournau. Finnegan Oldfield (Cut!) and French model Anyier Anei are also announced in the casting.
Angelina Jolie finds (already) Paris
The American star's latest shoot was already partly located in the French capital. It is about Maria by Pablo Larrain, which should be released on February 12, 2025 in France. She plays the famous singer Maria Callas, who lived the last years of her life in Paris in the 1970s. During her presentation at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, Angelina Jolie received a long ovation.
The actress had already toured in France as director and actress for the film Sea view (2015) with her former husband Brad Pitt. French actors Niels Arestrup, Mélanie Laurent, Melvil Poupaud and Richard Bohringer were also in the cast.
