In the United States, Donald Trump will be back in the Oval Office in less than two months. Until then, he continues to choose his future ministers and collaborators who, for the most part, will have to be confirmed by the Senate, despite their ignorance of the areas for which they will be responsible for some. And what is striking about this casting is that it brings together several figures or ex-figures from the small screen.
Tie, camouflage and star-spangled pocket that day for Pete Hegseth, at the helm of Fox News' weekend morning show. It's been ten years since the Princeton and Harvard graduate joined Donald Trump's favorite channel, after 18 years in the army. His square actor's face with perfectly slicked back hair could soon embody the Pentagon and its 3.5 million soldiers and civilian employees.
The specialty of Mehmet Oz, chosen to head the United States health insurance, is surgery. Her Dr. Oz Show stayed on the air for ten years and made him rich and famous, like Donald Trump. He even has his star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood.
Also like Trump, Sean Duffy was a reality TV star on MTV, before being elected representative of Wisconsin and then hosting a show on Fox Business. He should become Secretary of Transportation. Donald Trump likes telegenic faces, he made himself known via the small screen. Even his future ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, had his show on Fox. Which made Connecticut Democratic Representative Jim Himes say that “America is becoming the world's first nuclear-armed reality show.”
