Nicolas Sarkozy has fun with his wife. In , the President of the Republic also has the title of head of the armed forces. It is therefore he, and he alone, who has nuclear weapons, a device which remains very important in the eyes of leaders.

To activate the nuclear weapon, the leader of a State has a confidential code to enter before being able to trigger the launch. This code is transmitted from the outgoing president to his successor, ten days after the second round of the presidential election. A transmission which takes place in complete privacy at the Élysée Palace. This transfer of power involves in particular the formal identification of the new head of state, namely his vocal and visual passport, so that his identity cannot be usurped in any way. Then the new president changes the nuclear weapons code and keeps it safe.

Nicolas Sarkozy received the nuclear weapons codes in 2007 and chose a personal code that could not be found by anyone. However, his wife, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, believed she was smarter than the rest of her husband's entourage. The former President of the Republic was received by Guillaume Pley, as part of the Legends show on Youtube, online Monday November 17, 2024. During this interview, he mentioned nuclear codes and delivered a funny anecdote linked to his wife, the singer Carla Bruni.
