The new exhibition runs until the end of June 2025, only one or two Saturdays per month. You have to book on their website because it is always crowded. For the exhibition Beatsthere were 18,000 visitors, an average of 1000 visitors per opening Saturday. The exhibition is also regularly visited by groups brought by Belfius subsidiaries or its clients. It contributes to the bank’s brand image.

When the Belfius collection compares master works to those acquired by 12 current artists.

For this exhibition, Belfius is innovating by offering to discover recently acquired works, mixed with many important works from the collection, through all our different senses. It’s sometimes a bit “gimmicky”, sometimes surprising, but fortunately this never prevents you from discovering the works.

You can thus place your head in a cloud floating in the room (by Peter de Cupere) and smell perfumes there.

To touch it, you can caress two walls covered with thousands of white and green artificial feathers. We see a painting of an eagle by Jane Graverol, the great Belgian surrealist artist.

The melancholic rider

For the hearing, we discover a musical creation by Jasper Steverlinck in a room where the visitor is surrounded as much by a large drawing by Rinus Van de Velde, as by a painting by Henri Bles (1510-1555) which is for the opportunity also powered by artificial intelligence.

Among the recent acquisitions, two tulles by Lionel Estève like two suns sketched at different times, and a painted stone: works reminiscent of his major exhibition at Macs a year ago.

An attractive acquisition is the double painting by Stefan Peters (born 1978, lives in Hasselt), paintings of invented, timeless landscapes, in pink and gray. Spectacular is also the large painting by Louise Delanghe (born in 1989, lives in Ostend), of a black woman, melancholy sitting sidesaddle on a white horse.

Also with Magritte of course (The Flood from 1928), engravings by Frans Masereel, paintings by Alechinsky and Felix Labisse, …
