The countdown has begun for the 73rd edition of the Miss Universe competition, and the French are all behind the one who represents : Indira Ampiot. The Guadeloupean, who was elected Miss France in 2023, flew to Mexico at the beginning of November. “I feel good. I'm fine. I'm not too stressed”the 20-year-old young woman confided to our colleagues at Voici, a few days ago.

This Thursday, November 14, she paraded for the first time as part of this very special competition. Until then, the secret about his national costume remained. But his fans were not disappointed – quite the contrary in fact – when they discovered it.

“For this costume, I wanted to bring together the symbols of France. The flag, the cockade, the rooster, the beret, all in a sparkling universe”confided Indira Ampiot on Instagram, a few hours before going on stage. “It’s incredible”his fans respond in comments. “The costume is beautiful… Wow, magnificent work”says one of them. “The most beautiful national costume ever had”assures another. “I imagined exactly this kind of costume. It looks like Beyoncé!”

A flawless performance for our Miss.”

Thursday, November 14, the young Miss paraded during the Miss Universe Preliminary Show. Under the attentive gaze of the judges, Indira Ampiot strolled first in an evening dress, then in a swimsuit before donning her national costume. Unfortunately, right in the middle of the podium, the representative of France tripped over the train of her dress and caught herself in the extremes. “His reaction is perfect”underline Internet users when they see her wearing a big smile after this little hiccup.

“Phew, she made up for it”can we read on TikTok. “Yes, France can falter but never falls.” On her Instagram account, Indira Ampiot couldn't help but explain: “It's true that there was a little problem with my national costume, but I was always tripping over it so I knew it was going to happen. But hey it doesn't matter, at least I laughed, I really had fun tonight.”

For the rest of the competition, it takes place on the night of Saturday November 16 to Sunday November 17. The election will be broadcast from 2 a.m. on the Première channel. And if you don't want to wake up in the middle of the night to follow Indira Ampiot's steps live, don't panic: the program will be rebroadcast on November 17 from 7:10 p.m.
