Kate Middleton chose to pay a moving tribute to Princess Diana during her first major public appearance, after months of treatment for her cancer. With her usual tact, Princess Catherine played on a subtle note to remember Lady Di during the Remembrance ceremony which she attended on Saturday with her husband and several members of the royal family.
The Princess of Wales wore her late mother-in-law's Collingwood diamond and pearl earrings that day. This superb piece of jewelry was a wedding gift offered by the Collingwood brand. The magazine Tatler states that Princess Diana wore these earrings for the first time the day before her wedding. “The classic pear shape of these pearls matches that of the love knot tiara and accompanied Diana on her tours of Australia, Canada and Italy,” the publication says.

If Lady Di has often worn these earrings, Catherine has also been seen with them on several occasions, during royal garden parties. This is not the only souvenir of her husband's mother that she wore this November 9 at the Royal Albert Hall, in London. Kate Middleton wore the 12-carat sapphire engagement ring on her finger that also belonged to her mother-in-law. A tribute, therefore, to William's mother.
