After an exhibition dedicated to him at the Saint François-Xavier chapel in Carcassonne, the sculptor Jean Augé will be honored during a conference which will be held on Saturday, November 16 at 2:30 p.m., in the hall of the ‘Odeum.
Throughout the summer of 2024, the sculptor Jean Augé, originally from Lacombe in the Montagne Noire, was honored by the City of Carcassonne through an exhibition held at the St François-Xavier chapel, rue Barbès . Also, the Association of Friends of the Town and the City of Carcassonne wished to participate in the tribute paid to this exceptional artist, on the occasion of the centenary of the anniversary of his birth. For the occasion, the association is offering a conference which will take place on Saturday November 16 at 2:30 p.m., at the Odeum de Carcassonne (rue Antoine Marty).
This conference, entitled “Jean Augé, sculptor (1924-2002)”, was organized with the help of his daughter Christine Velay-Augé, who made documents and photos not yet presented available to the association. The conference will be moderated by Marie-Chantal Ferriol who is administrator, delegated advisor for Antiquities and Objects of Art of the department of Aude.
