Donald Trump succeeds Joe Biden by becoming president of the United States for a second term. He now has
78 ans. His state of health does it still allow him to govern?
Joe Biden was 81 years old at the end of his mandate, and met numerous health concerns. If all goes well, Donald Trump will be a year older at the end of his presidential term, in four years, and will become
the oldest serving American president.
How is Donald Trump's health?
For the second time, Donald Trump enters the White House after his first term from 2016 to 2020. The Republican president will therefore serve the country for the next four years. But his age raises questions, does he have the
health which allows him to govern the United States and not find himself in a complicated situation like Joe Biden?
And it's his doctor who answers: in a note published last year, Donald Trump's doctor confirmed that the latter was in “excellent health“ and that he “would continue to benefit from a healthy and active lifestyle for many years.” According to Bruce Aronwald, an osteopath from New Jersey, “President Trump lost weight through an improved diet and continued daily physical activity, while maintaining a rigorous schedule.” We now know that “his physical exams were well within
normal range and his cognitive tests were exceptional.”
Concerns about his mental health
Some American psychology specialists are concerned about the mental health of Donald Trump. According to them, the President would be in “cognitive decline”,
his mental state would have been “extremely deteriorated”
and he would have “lost touch with reality”. Richard A. Friedman, professor of psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College, had studied the remarks during the debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris on September 10, in The
Atlantic. According to him, the Republican “had demonstrated certain diagrams striking, although familiar, that we commonly observed in people with cognitive decline.
An analysis approved by Doctor Ben Michaelis. This clinical psychologist had carried out cognitive assessments for the New York Supreme Court. “There is a term when we talk about people with dementia called 'sunset', it's much more difficult for them
as the day progresses.“ he says in the columns of The Independant. “It’s very difficult for them to stay focused on one subject.” Indeed, Donald Trump is known for speeches that go in all directions. The Doctor talks about a “excessively incoherent speech”which could be a symptom of a “significant mental illness.
