It’s a page in the history of RTS that is about to turn. After 35 years of weather reports, Maria Mettral will say goodbye to viewers this Sunday at 8 p.m.
“I had a lot of fun”, “but at some point you have to say stop”: these are the words that the emblematic weather presenter of the channel announces her retirement in a video published on RTS.
If the actress leaves the weather presentation, she does not abandon the RTS: “In our profession as an actor, there is no retirement, I hate that word”. The Genevoise will continue to give voice acting lessons to the channel’s journalists and presenters.
Far from nostalgia, Maria Mettral is savoring this new stage of her life: “Between theater, training and the weather, I have been working 7 days a week for a long time and running around in all directions. Especially since I also had three children and am now a grandmother. I’m reaching a stage in my life where I need to focus on the most essential, and for me, that’s the stage and the classes I give.”
In 1989, Maria Mettral took her first steps at RTS as a weather presenter. For 35 years, she occupied this role while continuing to perform. She also participated in numerous entertainment shows and lent her voice to “Babibouchettes”.
