Who is Sami Outalbali, the rising star of French cinema?

Sami Outalbali has multiplied his performances in recent years, establishing himself as a rising figure in cinema and series. The 25-year-old actor revealed himself with the famous Netflix series Sex Education, where he plays the role of Rahim, a French student who falls in love with Eric, played by Ncuti Gatwa. His performance in this series opened the doors to international success for him, on both the small and big screens.

The young actor thus landed a role in the series “Cult”, broadcast on Prime Video since October 18, 2024. In this series which revisits the reality show Loft Story from the 2000s, Sami Outalbi plays the role of Karim, with alongside Anaïde Rozam, in the role of Alexia Laroche-Joubert, the producer of the show, and Marie Colomb (Loana). “Karim represents a bit of the first “victims” of these reality TV formats. He watches something constantly and begins to identify himself, to become attached to characters, to people… He begins to lose the barrier between this false fiction and true reality,” he explains to Télé- Hobbies.

The actor of Moroccan origin also appears in the film “November” by Cédric Jimenez, alongside French cinema celebrities such as Jean Dujardin and Sandrine Kiberlain. The participation of Sami Outalbi in this dramatic production which traces the investigation into the attacks of November 13, 2015, marks a turning point in his young career, especially as it is the first time that he reveals himself in this register. At 25 years old, the young French actor already has a busy career and will undoubtedly continue to make a name for himself in the coming years.
