Having become a key figure in lifestyle and the art of living, Sarah Poniatowski, at the head of her own brand, “Maison Sarah Lavoine”, has built a veritable design empire. With 19 boutiques and 150 points of sale internationally, it now shares its know-how and inspirations through a new book Dream, dare, create… and start again! (Flammarion). In her book, the designer reveals her management methods and personal development advice.
A traumatic event shook his family
According to his recent portrait in Liberationhis new book reflects his resilience and his ability to reinvent himself, especially after the fire which almost took everything away and deeply upset him. In 2004, a fire ravaged the Parisian apartment of Sarah Poniatowski, then married to singer Marc Lavoine. The designer has often mentioned this tragic accident in the media. That day, her six-year-old daughter Yasmine Lavoine was alone with her nanny when the fire broke out. They were able to take refuge with neighbors, thus escaping the worst. In this dramatic moment, Sarah Poniatowski realized that, despite the material losses including photos, the essential was preserved. His only property recovered? His daughter's precious cuddly toy. Since this fire, she has gotten into the habit of vacuuming regularly. She refuses overconsumption and favors objects that tell a story. This ordeal taught him that the essential can be contained in a few things and that a simple life, surrounded by those you love, is ultimately the most precious of riches.
A neighborhood “privileged, but lively”
Sarah Poniatowski is now living with the actor Roschdy Zem, in an apartment in the heart of Paris. She made her interior a warm and colorful space, faithful to her philosophy. This place, bathed in the light of a glass roof opening onto the Parisian rooftops, testifies to his strong taste for welcoming atmospheres, far from cold minimalism. “Only a bouquet of sunflowers sits tiredly in her vase, proof that she doesn’t have a green thumb”underlines the media. She lives in a neighborhood “privileged, but lively” in which “she does everything on foot”. Indeed, its main store is located at Place des Victoires, in the 1st arrondissement of the capital and its offices are located between its home and the latter.
