Sara Forestier: a return to cinema after three years of absence
The most cinema buffs discovered him in 2004 in the film “The Dodge”by director Abdellatif Kechiche. Twenty years later, Sara Forestier makes her big comeback on the big screen. Invited on the set of the show “Quotidien”, this Monday, November 4, 2024, she did not fail to explain to Yann Barthès why a break was necessary.
“Already because there is more to life than professional life. I needed to take a few years to rebuild myself” she declared. And added: “So you have to take the time to refocus on yourself, find pleasure again and I really waited to find the project with people who were caring..”.
Happy to return to the forefront, the 38-year-old actress then said: “And I did so well to wait. (…) I rediscovered the pleasures I had at the very beginning. It reconciled me with the sets while I continued to make films pretending that things were going well, but in fact, they weren't going well and this shoot freed me“.
Sara Forestier continues by not mentioning any film names: “I was hit and slapped by an actor. And I left the film. (…) I went to the police station and filed a complaint. Trauma is not taken into account in cinema. We often joke about damaged women saying that they are crazy.” she declared with force, before explaining that this period was marked by insomnia and “thoughts of suicide“.
This shoot that went wrong
Through these statements, Sara Forestier implicitly refers to the shooting of the film “Good man” directed by Marion Vernoux in April 2017. According to certain media, an altercation broke out between Sara Forestier and actor Nicolas Duchauvelle, after the actress was late.
“Drunk with rage, she began to threaten Nicolas, calling him all the names, including “waste of French cinema” before giving him a violent slap.” could we read in Voici. Enough to earn her immediate thanks and replacement by actress Ana Girardot.
On the set of “Quotidien”, in October 2017, Sara Forestier returned to this scandal. “I didn't get fired” she had first clarified. “I had to take care of myself otherwise I was risking my motherhood and I was taking the risk of not having children naturally.” she then assured.
