To commemorate the centenary of the birth of one of the legends of French song, and on the occasion of the release of the film Mr Aznavour (in theaters since October 23, 2024, editor's note), an exceptional evening was organized in homage to Charles Aznavour and his timeless works.

Iconic artists from the French music scene took to the stage, accompanied by an orchestra of 22 musicians, to perform their greatest hits.

Among them, Eddy de Pretto brilliantly took over My troublesa title released in 1976. Before that, the 31-year-old artist had already honored the memory of the Franco-Armenian singer. In 2019, he had indeed sung I already saw myself during the Caesar ceremony. A moment full of emotion which provoked numerous reactions.

A maternal heritage

Guest of Anne-Élisabeth Lemoine on the set of C to you this Thursday, October 31, 2024 to discuss these two major events, Eddy de Pretto shared his admiration for Charles Aznavour and explained how this iconic artist profoundly influenced his own career.

I am often called to pay tribute to Charles Aznavour, and it is a real pleasure that I have, because he is someone who spent 24 hours at my house when I was at my mother's.“, he confided.

It didn't represent my generation at all.

Although he now admires the interpreter of Bohemiathe young man has long had difficulty with the singer who died on October 1, 2018 in Mouriès, in Bouches-du-Rhône. “She listened to Aznavour all the time, so much so that I hated him when I was young. It was my mother's music and it didn't represent my generation at all“, he explained with a smile on his face.

It was only over the years that Eddy de Pretto finally realized the influence of Charles Aznavour on his work.

Growing up and being the author of my titles, I realized that it had been so much in my DNA on a daily basis thanks to my mother, that it was in me and that I had a strong Aznavour heritage. Today, I can only thank my mother and Aznavour for writing these songs“, he concluded. Touching confidences which deeply moved his admirers.
