Interviewed by The Sunday TribuneÉric Cantona confided the secrets of his daily life with his wife, the actress Rachida Brakni, or rather of his Sunday. Dad of Raphaël and Joséphine (fruits of his first marriage with Isabelle Ferrer) and of Émir and Selma (born respectively in 2009 and 2013 from his marriage to his second wife), the 58-year-old sportsman recounted his culinary obsession without which he can't fully enjoy his weekend.
“I have an obsession with my homemade mayonnaise. My children love it but my wife doesn't eat it. So every Sunday, when I take out the roast chicken, I'm trying desperately to change his mind. And at the end of the afternoon, we like to chat over a glass of red in a bistro.” he revealed.
Currently showing in Murder Club on M6, the former international footballer also spoke about his children who sometimes seem to tease their dad, who is much more sensitive than one might think. “They make fun of me when I cry in front of a cartoon. It’s true that I’m sensitive. It's very enjoyable to cry. But you know, at the Cantonas, we cry a lot and we laugh a lot. These are fiery Mediterranean-style discussions” he explained.
Éric Cantona, a tough guy with a tender heart
Eric Cantona's wife had already spoken about the very sensitive side of her husband in her novel Kaddour published in March 2024. “Éric is not afraid to cry. He is not ashamed to be moved. We have a 14-year-old son who is also highly sensitive. He also cries every time he watches a film and his father always tells him : 'That's beautiful!'”, explained the author. And to add: “Eric has a body, an imposing physical presence. But there is no trace of masculinism in him. His virility is in the right place. I feel safe in his arms, I feel like a woman and I love abandon myself to him, because he retains this sensitivity, this elegance and, above all, this deep respect for the feminine”. Words that testify to the deep respect and great love between Éric Cantona and his wife.
