Prince William may be a very busy man, but he does not neglect his role as a father. On the occasion of a garden party organized this May 21, 2024 at Buckingham Palace, Prince William has made some confidences about his special relationship with his youngest, Prince Louis, 6 years old.

It was during a conversation with the British author Rowan Aderyn that the son of King Charles III opened up. While the latter had just given him a copy of her book Homewards, William said that he sometimes read stories to Louis before going to bed.This is awesome, so inspiring. I’ll read it to Louis this evening at bedtime“, he would have declared, according to Hello! magazine.

Prince William loves reading to his children before bed

This is not the first time that the Prince of Wales has spoken about his time spent reading to his children in the press. Already in 2020during a visit to a Welsh ice cream parlor, he had noticed an example from the book The witch in the air by Julia Donaldson and said: “I read this to our kids all the time!” And joke: “Do you realize how many parents you’ve saved at bedtime?”

And William is far from the only one who loves these kinds of special moments with his children. His wife, Kate Middleton, also really enjoys reading to her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. In 2022, the Princess of Wales even read to all the children in the United Kingdom during an appearance on the British television channel CBeebies. She had read The owl who was afraid of the darka charming children’s novel by Jill Tomlinson published in 1968.

In 1980, Prince Charles published his own children’s book

King Charles III went even further. In 1980, while still Prince of Wales, he had written and published his own children’s book, The Old Man of Lochnagar (The Old Man of Lonchnagar), based on a story he told to his little brothers Andrew and Edward during their childhood. The funds raised were then donated to his charity The Prince’s Trust, which aims to help young people.
