Guest on the set of C to you this Thursday October 17, 2024, the star of HPIbroadcast on TF1has in fact revealed that she had plans to adapt The Count of Monte Cristo into a series for the front page. And this, with a female version.
An order from TF1
“And you also have a new project with TF1, it is adapting The Count of Monte Cristo into a series, but this time from a female point of view, the Count becomes the Countess. And it’s an idea that you had well before the success of the film which is currently in cinemas, with Pierre Niney” asked Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine.
To which, Audrey Fleurot responded: “We’re no longer one adaptation away. It’s still the most adapted novel in the world. Yes, but a woman in the Count’s place. Yes, and what’s a little surprising is that is that it is TF1 which is asking me and placing an order for me.”.

The 47-year-old actress finally accepted the project, even if, usually, she is not such a fan of the feminization of characters: “And so at the time, I said to myself, oulala, it was still very, very adapted. And then I’m always a little afraid of the feminization of the characters. For the feminization, you still have to find the justification , the angle that gives a new reading”she explained.
In the end, Audrey Fleurot accepted the proposal of TF1 after working with several teams to find the right angle: “And since then, I have been very happy because the project seems much more legitimate to me. Because the angle seems really interesting to me and it allows for a rereading.”
And don’t expect to see the same version as with Pierre Niney. Given that the 47-year-old actress assures that the angle covered in the series has never before been “staged”.
