the saga “Asterix and Obelix”in France, it’s a bit like our own James Bond company. And over the years, many directors and actors have succeeded one another to adapt the adventures of the little Gaul on the big screen.
The latest, Guillaume Canet, who directed “The Middle Kingdom”in 2023, with his best friend, Gilles Lellouche as a partner, to play Obélix. Until now, it was Gérard Depardieu who played the menhir delivery man, in the first 4 parts at the cinema.
Soon an “Asterix” by the director of “Camping”?
And if we are to believe one of the most lucrative directors at the French box office, the role could one day go to Didier Bourdon, who would respond to Philippe Lacheau. But that’s if we let Fabien Onteniente do it. The latter told Allociné that he dreamed of adapting “Asterix in Corsica“.
After the Camping boxes, it comes out this October 23, 2024 “4 zeros“, the sequel to the first film, from 2002, with Gérard Lanvin, Isabelle Nanty and Stomy Bugsy.
Behind the scenes, Fabien Onteniente is already counting on a new projectstarted in 2017… He wants this way “to still be able to show people that‘he has other facets”. And to add: “I achieved it on television [avec Le Dernier des justes, ndlr]but in the cinema they put me in a box more. So it would be able to come out of the drawer.”
His “dream” with Didier Bourdon and Philippe Lacheau
For now, we don’t know if the film will actually see the light of day. But Fabien Onteniente pleads in any case: “Ah, that’s one of my dreams, yes. And it was discussed again recently. Still this album, because what interests me is Corsica”.
And to add: “It’s my favorite comic because it talks about so many little things, with the story of the guy who walked on a field, who got into trouble with another…”
