This Monday October 14, 2024, justice has delivered its verdict on the case which affected Cyrille Eldin. Indeed, the host was accused of psychological violence against his former partner, the columnist Sandrine Calvayrac. He was then given a six-month suspended prison sentence. for these facts but also for unauthorized possession of a weapon and use of narcotics.
He was acquitted on suspicion of death threats. The host is also banned from approaching his former partner for two years and from carrying a weapon for five years.
He was ordered to pay 3,000 euros in damages to his ex-partner.
Cyrille Eldin sentenced to six months in prison
The one who was a columnist in numerous programs on Canal+, had not admitted to having been at the origin of the accusations made against him. In a relationship with the plaintiff from 2015 to 2018 and from 2021 to 2023, Cyrille Eldin began to be psychologically violent from the birth of their child in March 2022. After their separation, the 37-year-old young woman went to live in the south of France, with her son. The facilitator then obtained visiting rights every other weekend. If he admitted to having uttered insults against his former partner, he refutes the violence and threats.
He said he called her several times “bitch” or even “hysterical”. He also admits to having told her “you deserve a bullet in the head” et “I’m going to slit your throat.” However, justice did not find the host guilty of death threats. “The court cannot be satisfied with an accusation that constitutes proof. None of the people interviewed precisely confirmed the comments made about Ms. Calvayrac. said Sorin Margulis, Cyrille Eldin’s advisor.
A victim recognized as such
Indeed, Cyrille Eldin’s ex-partner confided that the host had made threats “in the couple’s closed doors. It was a long, very difficult journey. I have taken everything you can in a toxic and unhealthy relationship”.
However, her lawyer specifies that her client is “fully” satisfied with the sanction because
“she recognizes Ms. Calvayrac as a victim. When you are a media couple, it is terribly difficult to come and tell the reality behind closed doors”.
