Invited on the set of Quotidien this Monday, October 14, the 42-year-old singer spoke about the death of his mother, which occurred in May 2022. A disappearance that he still experiences on a daily basis as a “chasm”.

“The world no longer looks quite the same without its mother.” In May 2022, Julien Doré announced with emotion the disappearance of his mother on his Instagram account. Two years later, the 42-year-old singer spoke about this difficult passage in his life on the set of Dailyof which he was the guest this Monday October 14 to promote his new album, Impostor.

And to never forget the memory of his mother, the singer wanted to make her voice heard in a song from his latest album, on the cover of Kendji’s title Mama’s eyes. A cover with a particular flavor for Julien Doré, which opens with an audio message left for him by his mother. “I tell myself at that moment, as a son, not as an artist, that I have fixed something, that is to say that there, I will not be able to erase this voice, it’s fixed somewhere,” he says with emotion.

A voice message that the revelation of the New star in 2007 initially had difficulty finding. “I go to my phone and search my voicemail for my mother’s voice. I realize that I can’t find her because like a proud son, I deleted her voice messages (…) I can’t listen to her voice,” he confides.

“He will hear his grandmother’s voice”

A tribute that comes as a parade to the passing of time. “There is a chasm (…). The more time passes, the more someone’s voice fades from memory,” he says, before talking about the meaning of this song for his son, born in 2021, just a few months before the death of his grandmother.

“Maybe in a few years when my son listens to this song, he will think it’s my voice. But he will also hear his grandmother’s voice,” he concludes with emotion. As if to make her live forever.
