Columnist and host Richard Martineau announced this morning that he had prostate cancer.

“I have good news and bad news for you,” he wrote from the outset.
Richard Martineau said he “didn’t see it coming.” “I was sure I had nothing. I have never been sick! I had no symptoms!”
The stage 1 cancer was discovered through a routine blood test which revealed an abnormally high level of prostate specific antigen (PSA). The official verdict then came after a magnetic resonance and a biopsy.
Having the options of radiotherapy treatments or removal of the affected organ, the columnist chose to have his prostate removed. “The time has come for my prostate and I to go our separate ways and go our separate ways,” he wrote with humor.
He will have surgery on October 16 at the CHUM.
As his cancer is early and is not aggressive, Richard Martineau indicated that his chances of recovery are “90%”.
“I’m just going to repeat this message a thousand times: ‘Go get tested, guys. Even if you don’t like a doctor poking around, with an inquisitive finger, in your trash chute. The sooner you’re diagnosed with cancer , the better.”, he concluded his column.Remember that Richard Martineau is the father of three children, and celebrated his 21st wedding anniversary with journalist, columnist and host Sophie Durocher on September 8.
