In the space of two weeks, Léon Marchand has become the darling of the French. With 5 Olympic titles including four gold at the last Olympic Games, the swimmer is today a real star. Questioned by Mouloud Achour, on the set of Clique on Canal +, the 22-year-old young man spoke about numerous subjects. In particular the French image of success, commenting on the news of Inoxtag, who achieved the feat of climbing Everest.
And the YouTuber is the target of criticism. “In France we are also afraid of displaying our ambitions, we are afraid of sending messages when we are very successful. It’s a shame”, says Léon Marchand.

Admiring personalities like Inoxtag who try things, the swimmer finds it a shame that in France, everything is subject to controversy. During this interview, he also returned to his private life. In fact, the host asked the athlete if he had room for love in his life: “Not too much… I would say that in the last two years, it’s very complicated. I don’t have time for that”he indicated.
And for good reason, Léon Marchand’s days are long.
“I don’t have time for hobbies, I don’t have time for anything except Sunday. We even swim on Saturday, we have a three-hour session. On Saturday afternoon we don’t doesn’t do anything anymore, we’re very tired, it’s complicated”he confided.
His confidences about his private life
In addition to swimming, Léon Marchand follows “a computer science program in the United States, so it’s a lot of homework, classes every day and everything so I don’t really have time for anyone etc. The time I give, I simply give it to my parents and my little brother.”
You will have understood, the swimmer has very little room for love and distractions: “In the morning, I have training at 6 a.m. I get up at 5:15 a.m. to eat a little before. We usually swim until 7:30 a.m. I specify ‘in general’, because it often overflows. These are sessions focused on power, with 7 km on the clock”he indicated.
