Kate Winslet reveals behind the scenes of the famous kiss in Titanic

This cult kiss between Rose (character played by Kate Winslet) and Jack (in the skin of Leonardo DiCaprio) on the bow of the White Star Line liner required a lot of work. “I remember when we were shooting, we had to shoot two or three times on different days depending on the sunset,” says the 48-year-old actress. There were only two good takes, when the camera was perfect and the sun was perfect.” Kate Winslet then describes the scene live, broadcast on the set of C to you : “There is a very small bug in the focus. You see, she said, we lose focus and then we come back. But it was our best catch anyway. So when I look at it I say to myself ‘ohlala it was so technical!'”

And the actress continues smiling: “Leonardo and I were very high up on a small part of the stage and we were told: ‘When you are going to kiss your makeup will run’. So Leonardo had his makeup in his pocket and I had makeup here,” she explains, slipping her hand into the collar of her jacket. And between each take we looked at each other and said ”ah no it’s horrible we have to fix it”. So I arranged it, he arranged it for me.
