A miracle. Gilbert Montagné almost did not lead the life that everyone knows him to be. Indeed, the 72-year-old singer has just revealed at the microphone ofEurope 1 that he almost lost his life, just a few days after his arrival in the world.
But even before seeing his life in danger, the interpreter of Tropical Sunlights should never have come into this world. According to him, his parents had not planned to have another child: “my parents already had three models, they weren’t expecting me”he explained.
Gilbert Montagné almost died as soon as he arrived in the world
Nevertheless, Gilbert Montagné was indeed able to be born… but much earlier than expected. As the main person indicated, the singer was born after only five and a half months of pregnancy. At his birth, he weighed 950 grams and almost lost his life.
“I was born on the kitchen table, December 28, there was a doctor on the rich side of the building who said ‘anyway, it will go out like a little candle‘”, he recalled to our colleagues. Faced with the situation, the singer was transferred to the neonatal department of Port-Royal.
Saved after spending months in an incubator
This transfer saved his life. Nevertheless, Gilbert Montagné had to live “three and a half months in an incubator.” “It was wonderful because, on the one hand it was scary, I was all alone without sound, without image or anything, but that’s where I built myself“, he told Thomas Isle.
The latter, intrigued to learn that the 72-year-old singer has memories of this period, then told him: “But you tell us about it as if you remember it.” “I don’t know how to explain that. Even infants, like me, they have consciousness, there are noises…”he assured.
Gilbert Montagné even remembers his first months: “I don’t like hearing a wheeled suitcase coming from afar, because it was the trolley with the medicines on it, I was afraid of what they were going to do to me, but what are they They did really well in any case.”
