Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar reunite with their Danish royal godfathers

On May 6, 2024, King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark began their state visit to Sweden. Upon their arrival in Stockholm, the Danish sovereigns found their godchildren, the two children of Crown Princess Victoria. Princess Estelle’s godmother is Queen Mary and Prince Oscar’s godfather is King Frederik X.

King Frederik X and Queen Mary reunite with their Swedish godchildren during their first state visit

King Frederik It was in the neighboring kingdom of Sweden that King Frederik and Queen Mary arrived this Monday, May 6 aboard the royal ship Dannebrog. In Stockholm, they boarded the royal barge Order of Vasa, accompanied by Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, to reach the quay at the foot of the royal palace.

King Frederik, 55, and Queen Mary, 52, were welcomed by King Carl XVI Gustaf, 78, and Queen Silvia, 80, in a formal ceremony. After this military welcome, the two royal couples returned to the interior of the palace where delegations from the two countries, as well as other members of the royal family, were waiting for them. Prince Carl Philip and his wife, Princess Sofia, were there to welcome the Danish royal couple. Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel were also accompanied by their children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar.

Reunion between Estelle and Oscar from Sweden and Frederik and Mary from Denmark

Princess Estelle, 12, is the goddaughter of Queen Mary, while Prince Oscar, 8, is the godson of King Frederik Danish royal couple. This allocation of godparents between members of Scandinavian royal families strengthens the bonds of friendship between the families, who are also cousins.
