The figures are panicking, the observers are getting excited and the sound bombs are multiplying. American rap had not experienced such opposition since the early 2000s and the legendary clash between Jay-Z and Nas. But if the war of words currently raging between Kendrick Lamar and Drake does not go beyond – for the moment – the verbal jousting of bits and pieces, the attacks and arguments used are of formidable aggressiveness.

Initiated by the Compton rapper, this “battle royal” entered a new dimension over the weekend with Drake’s powerful response to “Family Maters”, a 7’37” diss track accompanied by a clip.

All the belligerents take it for their rank: the superstar The Weeknd, originally from Toronto like him, the producer Metro Boomin, the rapper Rick Ross, mocked for his weight, or even A$AP Rocky, companion of Rihanna. The Canadian insinuates that he had an affair with the singer.

But lightning falls first on Kendrick Lamar, accused of beating his wife. Drake claims that the Californian artist’s manager is the real father of the couple’s little boy.

Attacks on the family which constitute the common thread of this opposition. A few hours after this explosion unleashed by Drake, Kendrick Lamar invited everyone to “meet the Grahams” (editor’s note: Drake’s last name) in an absolutely frightening title in the form of a letter written to his son Adonis (6 years old), his parents and… his hidden 11 year old daughter!

Four demonic verses during which Aubrey Graham is accused of the worst evils, including that of being a sexual assaulter. According to TMZ, the existence of a hidden girl is a complete fabrication. According to informed circles, it is possible that Drake’s entourage deliberately leaked false information to Kendrick Lamar’s entourage to discredit the latter.

Little fond of social networks but unleashed, Kendrick Lamar continued on the night of Saturday to Sunday with “Not Like us”. A second consecutive “diss track”, more danceable but even more impactful, since it invalidates Drake with the most disqualifying accusation: the 37-year-old star is “a pedophile” in hiding!

The final blow for the most successful rapper of the last fifteen years? While waiting for the new episode of this intense fight, Kendrick Lamar assures him: “I can go even further, I promise.”
