End of the midnight curfew in the port area

“There will be no more room for negotiation. It will solve a lot of problems,” said municipal councilor Michel Tremblay, who also sits on the board of directors of the Port Zone, on Tuesday.

There was already a price list, but some promoters still negotiated their contracts. In recent years, competition has become fiercer in the summer shows and events industry in Saguenay and some have tried to obtain more favors.

Elected officials were even harassed, pushing the City of Saguenay to decree a moratorium for one year, while it reviewed the financing rules and established a five-year plan.

The Port Zone Management Company therefore decided to be firmer “to be fair with all the promoters,” maintains Mr. Tremblay. Tuesday, Chicoutimi elected officials approved the approach at the monthly meeting of the borough council.

Curfew at 11 p.m.

The project was tested last summer. Some shows were able to end at midnight, but the managers of the Port Zone as well as the City of Saguenay did not appreciate the experience.

“We have had quite a few complaints and vandalism. The later it ends, the more there are excesses,” underlines the municipal councilor. Thus, breakages were reported in particular in the bathrooms of the hangar.

We will therefore return at 11 p.m., as stipulated by the municipal regulations.
