Around thirty seniors kicked out of their protected apartments

Around thirty seniors who live in the Îlot du Parc residence, in Lutry (VD), will have to leave their protected apartments by the end of next April. According to our colleagues from “24 Heures”, the sad news was communicated to those concerned just a few days ago.

You should know that the building where the Ilot du Parc is located is a PPE (property by floors). A conflict broke out, within the building located on Route de Taillepied, between an office owner and the company Résidences Îlot du Parc SA which operates around fifty protected apartments.

Daniel Pache, president of the board of directors of the medical residence, explains that work that must have been carried out for five years is at the center of the discord. The owner of the offices does not want to hear about it and is opposed to it.

It is therefore impossible to carry out the necessary renovations to guarantee a secure environment for elderly residents. “Upgrades to standards are imperative, we cannot put people over 80 years old at risk,” Daniel Pache told our colleagues. Legal proceedings are underway. But, unfortunately, the residents’ lease still had to be terminated by the end of April.

Résidences Îlot du Parc SA assures that it does not want to leave its elderly tenants in the lurch. And having made contact with other managers of apartments for seniors, as well as EMS. A social plan has been put in place for the thirty employees at the Lutry establishment.
