Traders work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange
The New York Stock Exchange ended its last session higher on Friday before the inauguration of President Donald Trump, which will take place on Monday in Washington.
The Dow Jones index gained 0.78%, or 334.70 points, to 43,487.83 points. The broader Standard & Poor’s 500 rose 59.32 points, or 1.00%, to 5,996.66 points. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 291.91 points, or 1.51%, to 19,630.199 points.
The fall in bond yields and inflation as well as the better-than-expected results of the major American banks gave new impetus to the stock markets after several weeks of hesitation.
The Dow Jones and the S&P 500 thus posted their largest weekly increase since the election of Donald Trump in early November, and the Nasdaq since the week of December 1.
In terms of values, Nvidia gained 3.1% and Broadcom 3.5% after Barclays raised its price target on the two stocks.
-Intel soared by more than 9% amid speculation about a potential takeover of the group.
Meta’s title did not react to the United States Supreme Court’s rejection of TikTok’s appeal against the law imposing its sale or ban on American territory.
