From February 2025, the regulated electricity price will see an average reduction of 15%. However, subscribers to the Tempo offer will not benefit from this reduction, the Energy Regulation Commission considering that this offer was already too competitive compared to the Base Tariff or the Peak Hours / Off-peak Hours option. In this context, does Tempo remain an interesting offer with the new price list? Should we switch to the peak/off-peak hours option?
Will the Tempo offer remain cheaper from February 2025?
The Tempo offer was EDF's flagship offer in 2024 with exceptional profitability compared to off-peak hours showing a budget 25% cheaper on average for the same consumption. The offer has also won over nearly 800,000 homes while in 2022, only 200,000 of them had subscribed to this offer.
To assess whether the Tempo offer will remain the cheapest option of the regulated tariff in 2025, let's take the example of a 70 m² home equipped with a 9 kVA meter and having an annual consumption of 10,800 kWh. From February 1, 2025, the annual budget with the Tempo offer is estimated at €2044 (compared to €2,111 in 2024), without any reduction in consumption during red days. With the HP/HC price, the budget reached 2373 € (compared to €2,884 in 2024).
Tempo therefore remains the most economical offer, but the gap is narrowing! While in 2024, the Tempo offer was 27% cheaper than the off-peak option, from February 1, this gap will be reduced to 14% !
Here is a comparison of the annual budget for the Tempo offer and the regulated rate in peak/off-peak hours, depending on the size of the accommodation.

Consult the new electricity prices in 2025
Why will the Tempo offer not lower its prices by 15% in 2025 like the others?
The Tempo offer will not benefit from the 15% reduction in regulated electricity prices because the CRE has chosen to apply a progressive smoothing to adjust this option to its real costsobtained by stacking costs. Unlike other regulated tariffs, Tempo had deviated from this tariff logic due to the extreme fluctuations in the energy market in recent years.
The CRE consulted players in the sector, who mainly supported a gradual smoothing rather than a sudden reduction in Tempo prices. Thus, for 2025, the reduction in Tempo prices will be limited to 2%which allows a gradual rapprochement with real costs while maintaining the readability of pricing signals.
What future for the Tempo offer?
This revision of the prices of the Tempo offer will continue gradually over the coming years in order to align prices with the Base and Peak/Off-peak Hours options.
However, to preserve its attractiveness, consumers will absolutely have to moderate their consumption during red dayswhich constitutes the main objective of this offer aimed at relieving pressure on the electricity network. In recent years, the Tempo offer remained advantageous even without reducing consumption during red days.
