Gramat. The misadventures of a schoolboy lost between and

After writing several works, Gérard Ramelot has just completed a new novel entitled “Numéro 28”. We met him.

Can you introduce yourself?

Born in 1949 in , I came to the Lot very often with my parents. Passionate about old stones since my childhood, the serenity of the Lot and its architecture naturally emerged as my favorite destination. This is how my wife and I acquired the Fresquet mill in Gramat in 1987, which we completely renovated, with the creation of guest rooms.

How did your passion for writing come about?

As I indicate in my latest work, in which I recount in particular what I experienced at a very young age in a boarding school, it was during this period that I really began to write. Over time, the environment, the quality of life in the Lot, this discreet corner of , and being now retired, have largely contributed to strengthening the inspiration and this taste for writing.

In 2012, in The Uns and the Hosts” published by Samedi-midi éditions, I tell anecdotes and strange stories lived in a guest house, written with the kind complicity of Ghosti the ghost of the Fresquet mill. This book was selected for the show from the Brive-la-Gaillarde book In 2019, the magic of wild words, neologisms, humor and linguistic curiosities are on the menu of “Word Salad”.

What will readers discover in your latest work “Numéro 28”?

They will experience an unusual escapade in 1960 told by a little Parisian lost in a Breton boarding school. The adventures of this schoolboy are, in fact, a very dark portion of my childhood, but, as usual, told with a good dose of humor. I have always made it my main remedy for the events that constantly threaten us. Readers will also discover why the number 28 is written on a box.

Readers will be able to obtain the book (€19.90) during upcoming signing sessions (Leclerc cultural center in Biars, Leclerc center in Gramat, Cultura Brive, etc.) or from the author on 06 08 85 09 21 ; [email protected]
