employees of the former Feuilleraie accommodation center at an impasse

La Feuilleraie located in Mondeville in has attracted a lot of attention. After the unanswered question of rehousing the residents of this former emergency accommodation center, the question of the future of the staff ensuring the maintenance of this establishment now arises. These employees have not received a salary for more than two months.

Everything seems frozen at La Feuilleraie. Last April, the prefecture took the decision to close this reception center for asylum seekers for security reasons. Of the forty families housed here, there remain today around fifteen families who refuse to leave. The maintenance staff are still there, too, even if since November 1, 2024, the employees have not received any pay slips.

There are six employees hired by SARL “AMC”, a construction company supposed to ensure the maintenance of the La Feuilleraie emergency accommodation center. But since November, they have no longer received a salary, and letters sent to the company’s headquarters located on Cours Caffarelli in Mondeville are returned to them due to lack of recipients.

Because their former boss sold the company, and since then, they have received neither money nor direction. “I have 8,000 euros overdraft” tells us an employee who wishes to remain anonymous.

Contacted, their former employer, Erwan Laborie, confirmed the sale of this company. “I could no longer pay the employees” he explains in an email.

According to one of his former employees, Mr Laborie sold the company to a person last November, who immediately sold it to a third party.

A man even introduced himself to our reporting team on site, as being the “new owner”. Without specifying whether he was the new owner of AMC, a maintenance company, or of the La Feuilleraie building. Enough to lose employees.

But in the national business register, as of January 6, 2025, the company AMC is still in the name of Mr Laborie. The sale would not have been transmitted to the registry by the new manager.

So every day, employees go to their workplace without any task being assigned to them. They spend the time together in their office.

We come every morning. We are not given anything to do. Mr Laborie called us to tell us that we had nothing more to do here.

So far, none of them have received a termination letter.

These employees transmitted their concerns to the labor inspectorate. An investigation is underway.

Everything has been said about La Feuilleraie. That this former EHPAD, transformed into a place of residence for undocumented immigrants, had been resold. Even though 17 families still live there, despite the imminent danger order issued by the Mondeville town hall last April.

The walls still belong to him, confirms Erwan Laborie. He only sold the AMC company.

In this case, the rehousing of the residents remains the responsibility, according to the Prefecture.

In his absence, a meeting was held Tuesday morning at the Prefecture to find a solution and make this unsecured building inaccessible.

We find ourselves faced with an owner who does not fulfill his obligations, in terms of building safety and rehousing the residents. It is the public authorities who take charge of it, therefore, the community and the Prefect.

Hélène Burgat, mayor of Mondeville

Erwan Laborie claims to have offered to rehouse the families.

“But in this case, let the State pay me my previous invoices, because without money, I cannot do anything. As a reminder, I have not been paid since October 1, 2023, i.e. 15 months.”

According to Hélène Burgat, administrative and legal procedures are underway.

Caught in this imbroglio, residents hope to be decently rehoused. AMC employees are hoping for a quick response to pay their bills.
