Talking about diversity also means addressing the issues of migratory flows, increasing poverty or the aging of the population. Challenges which, very often, expose themselves to gaps where discrimination can easily creep in. If age, origin, region, gender or disability are all characteristics that shape our identities, they are also subjects that remind us how this notion of diversity remains a delicate and demanding subject. It would be simplistic to consider that the reasons for approaching it are solely conditioned by virtue or good intentions. In a world where issues are deeply interconnected, recognizing diversity as an unavoidable reality is an essential starting point.
Give body
However, it is clear that this recognition does not translate into practice, particularly in the business world. Beyond the declarations, very few organizations really manage to embody the diversity they claim in their teams. But times are changing. And with it, it is the look that evolves. Diversity cannot, therefore, remain a simple buzzword that we wave around to ease our conscience. It must take shape on the ground.
