In England: Who is behind this strange plate of bananas?

This story, as unusual as it is, remains a true mystery. For more than a year, Beeston, a British town near Nottingham, has been facing a rather unusual situation: a plate of peeled bananas is left on the street every second day of the month. Neither the author nor the reason for this gesture are known. A resident wanted to investigate for herself, in vain. “I’ve asked around in the local community, but no one really knows and no one can tell me anything,” Clare Short told the BBC. “Bananas appear early in the morning on the second day of the month, I see them on the way to work. I would like to know the answers to that.”

In December, the resident left a message for the author to try to dissuade him. “Please stop with the bananas. The abandoned plate rots and it makes a mess.” But on January 2, again, a new plate appeared as if by magic. “So I came to remove the signs because I don’t want to make a quarrel,” said the resident. This plate still sows discord among several neighbors, like Jill Dowling. “It’s so strange and disgusting,” she told the media. Another resident wonders if the idea would not be linked to a cultural custom elsewhere.

“I think it’s a special thing for this person and I wish them nothing but good things,” adds Clare Short. But if she could come back and clean up the mess a few days later, that would be lovely.
