After years of very good growth, the English brand now manufacturing its cars in China Mg seems to have reached a first level this year in Europe. If its sales are still at a significant level (close to that of historic brands like Seat or Fiat), it is no longer growing as quickly as last year or as in 2022.
At the end of 2024, it tried to stimulate demand with very significant discounts on its electric models: the Mg5 station wagon, the ZS city SUV and the Marvel-R family SUV were entitled to €10,000 on examples available in stock and the compact MG4 benefited from a reduction of €8,000. Enough to position the latter at €21,990 in base price, well below the level of its competitors.
No more big discounts
In 2025, things change: the MG5, first generation electric ZS and Marvel R are no longer available to order (but there are still a few examples available in stock). Above all, the SAIC group manufacturer is calming down on discounts: only the MG4 still benefits from a €5,000 reductionwhich now places it at €24,990 in base price.
The new MG3 Hybrid+, MG ZS Hybrid+ and other MG EHS, on the other hand, do not grant any discounts. No more than the Cyberster, this astonishing electric convertible sports car available from €67,990. It must be said that the three hybrid models highlight a very good price-performance ratio which will undoubtedly not require major commercial gestures to ensure high levels of sales. If they don’t sell as well as expected, obviously, that could change quickly.
